Prayers for Dads
Lord, You are all-knowing and all-powerful. Heaven is your throne, and the earth is Your footstool. I wonder sometimes if I’m teaching my family about You like I should. Guide me to be a Godly man so I can be the kind of father and husband You want me to be. Break down any barriers that keep me from being that man. Show my children and my family that Your ways are best. Create in them the desire to follow You so they will love You with all their hearts, all their minds, and all their souls. I am so grateful I can come to You on behalf of my family. Thank You for carefully watching over them and leading them to You. In Your holy name, Amen.
Oh God, I praise You for blessing me with children and for the joy, as well as heartache, that they bring to our lives. Lord, I pray that You would prepare me to accept fatherhood with open arms and to give me conviction to raise the baby in a Godly way. Give me the endless patience that is needed with new babies and help me to be the leader and provider for my children. I pray that You would send the Holy Spirit to help me with the unknown territory that comes with having a new baby. Help me to be the greatest helper to my expecting wife and to be strong for her and help her through her delivery. Lastly, Father, I pray that You wrap Your arms around the baby and bring him/her safely into this world. Thank you, Lord. For I pray these things in your heavenly and precious name – Amen.
Mighty Savior, I pray that as a grandfather, You help me to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. I pray that I remain reverent in the way that I live. Motivate me, oh Lord, to take action! Show me how to best share what I have learned through the years to guide the younger members of my family, and help the younger generations. Burn a fire in my heart for imparting wisdom on others and helping their yoke be easy, until my last breath. Help me be an example to those around me so that they too can be encouraged to live reverently for You in a life of service to others. Amen.
Precious Father, thank You for the crowns of my life – my grandchildren. Thank You for blessing me with a family that has given me so much joy in life. I love You with all of my heart, soul and mind and pray that You continue to keep the crowns in our life. I pray that You continue to bless each generation in my family like You have blessed me. Amen.
Prayer for Priests
Gracious and loving God, we thank You for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of Your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.
Almighty and eternal God, have mercy on Your servants, our friends. Keep them continually under Your protection, and direct them according to your gracious favor in the way of eternal salvation. May they desire whatever pleases You, and with all their strength strive to do it. As they trust in Your mercy, O Lord, graciously assist them with Your heavenly help, that they may always diligently serve You, and be separated from You by no temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Heavenly Lord, I am so blessed to be Your child and I praise and thank You for always being there as my guard and guide, my defense and my defender. Thank You that I can turn to You no matter what happens, and even when I am completely alone, thank You that You are my ever present help in times of trouble. Lord, I have also proven over and over again that when I seek to do things in my own strength, I inevitably fail and fall and am slowly learning that without You I can do nothing, and yet You have promised that I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Thank You that in all things You are my sufficiency and my strength, and I pray that in all things I will find my wisdom and strength in You. Thank You, Lord, that You are always there for me and that You have promised never to fail nor forsake me. Thank You in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Lord, today I am asking You to bless my brother. He is so close to my heart, and I want only the best for him. I ask, Lord, that You work in his life to make him a better man of God. Bless every step he takes so that he can be a light unto others. Guide him in the right direction when he is faced with making the right choice or the wrong one. Give him the friends and family members that will point him toward you and what you want for his life, and give him the discerning mind to know who is giving him Your advice. Lord, I know that my brother and I don’t always get along. Actually, we can fight like no two other people. But I ask that you take these disagreements and turn them toward something that draws us closer together. I ask that we not just argue, but that we make up and become closer than we were before. I also ask you to put a greater amount of patience on my heart for the things he does that normally set me off. I also ask that you give him more patience in dealing with me and the things I do to irritate him. I want us to grow older with happy memories of one another. Amen.
